NS 1073 - Penn Central heritage locomotive
To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Norfolk Southern painted twenty locomotives in predecessor paint schemes. One of these locomotives, SD70ACe 1073, was painted for Penn Central. The locomotive was built at ElectroMotive Diesel's plant in Muncie, Indiana, and delivered to NS on June 26, 2012. It was moved along with five other newly-delivered heritage locomotives to North Carolina for Norfolk Southern's "Heritage Locomotives Family Portrait" event on July 3-4, 2012. Afterwards it was sent to Roanoke, Virginia, where it was prepared for revenue service.
