Athearn has announced a 50' Fruit Growers Express boxcar painted for Penn Central. The car will be available in three numbers with an MSRP of $27.98 and an expected delivery date of May 2016.
Eastern Seaboard Models is shipping models of their GSC Well Car. PC modelers may be most interested in the PC, NYC, and LV roadnames. The model features: a diecast underbody and frame that keeps the center of gravity low to the rails and allows an "empty" model to be placed anywhere in your freight consist without fear of derailment; Atlas (P-S1 Boxcar) Barber truck frames equipped with Fox Valley 28" wheels to set the model ten scale inches above the rails; Micro-Trains #2001 offset-shank couplers for reliable operation; vertical brakewheel and stirrups formed of polyacetal plastic and molded in the body paint color to protect against breakage and damage; fine details, including thin-profile deck keyholes; and crisp painting/printing. MSRP is $36.95 and they are available at your local hobby dealer.
Eastern Seaboard Models will also be releasing later in July ready-to-run PRR and PC ore jennies built by Allen Eck from brass kits by SPF Models. Four numbers of PRR G38 and one number of a PC G39 will be available for $125.00 per car, assembled and painted with a load.
Atlas has announced a 52'6" ACF gondola in their Trainman line decorated for Penn Central. The car is available in 3-rail with an MSRP of $57.95 and 2-rail with an MSRP of $60.95 and a projected delivery date of first quarter 2016.
