William Moore letter, 8/26/71

This letter, dated August 26, 1971, was sent by Penn Central Transportation Company president and CEO William H. Moore to all employees. In this letter, Moore explains that Penn Central and its predecessors had no earning power as a railroad, and that to lift the railroad out of bankrupcty, earning power had to be be established by increasing income and reducing expenses. He then goes on to outline ways that the trustees planned to accomplish that goal, followed by addressing some other employee concerns such as management pay and morale.
