2023 Convention

The 2023 PCRRHS Convention will be held September 21-23 near Boston, Massachusetts.

Hotel

Our convention hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 5 Wheeler Road, Burlington, MA. A discounted block of rooms, reserved for our convention at $154 plus tax per night, will be available until September 7th, so book early. Call the hotel directly to make your room reservations 781-272-8800 and mention you’re with the Penn Central Railroad Historical Society; or use this link to book on-line.

Tour

We will be touring the MBTA’s Somerville Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility (Boston Engine Terminal), on Saturday September 23. Our bus will depart from our hotel at 9:15 AM sharp and return to the hotel 1:00 PM, the cost of this tour is $35. Private cars are not permitted.

Tour participants will need to wear sturdy shoes or boots (no open toe footwear) and may not wear loose-fitting clothing.  Safety glasses will be required (will be provided on the tour bus).

Banquet

The convention banquet will be held at our host hotel on Saturday, September 23 beginning at 6:00 PM. The buffet-style banquet will feature beef bourguignon, boneless chicken breast in a lemon herb butter sauce, rolls, salad, soup, egg noodles, green beans, dessert, assorted soft drinks, coffee and tea. A cash bar will be available.

Walter E. Zullig, Jr. will be our banquet speaker. Mr. Zullig has long been involved with passenger train matters. After graduating from Law School he joined the legal regulatory staff of the New York State Public Service Commission. He went on to the MTA where he handled matters pertaining to Penn Central and Conrail commuter rail services. In 1982, he was appointed General Counsel to the Metro-North Railroad, from which he retired in 2002. He has served with the Transportation Research Board, and the National Railway Historical Society and has authored numerous magazine articles and books on railroad history.
