We did it! Back in November we announced a partnership with the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum to help provide the remaining funds required to restore their Altoona-built N10 caboose to its as-built appearance as Penn Central 24026. The Society donated an initial $5000 to the effort, and began a matching funds challenge to raise an additional $2500 or more from our members, which the Society would match up to $2500.
The final total raised from our membership was $2760, which will be matched with another $2500 to allow ARMM to complete the work on the caboose. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Meanwhile, work on the caboose has continued to move along. Trustee Mark Kerlick visited the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum recently and shared these photos of the restoration work that is underway.
